Blood Cancer: Is it Curable?

Blood is produces in Bone marrow, the place where most of the cancers occur or start. Blood Cancers like( Leukemia, myeloma, lymphoma affects the production and functioning of blood cells as a result of this blood cells lack their function in fighting off injections and prevention of serious bleeding.
For many patients with blood cancer the best and the only way to cure it is the stem cell transplant which is a part of their treatment. In this stem cell transplant a new immune system is developed by the donor stem cell which has the potential to view cancer cells as foreign and lead to their suppression.

The patients who need transplant do not have matching donor in their family, according to surveys there are 70 percent of patience with this instance. Hence they have to rely on international cooperative registries or “Be the Match Registry” through National Marrow Donor Program. Yet 6 out of 10 patients cannot find a genetic in the impressive 11 million donor registries. For diverse ancestry the probability is even low.
Those who register mail back a swab of cheek cells that are used for tissue typing and matching. On an average a total of 500 members will be selected to donate their stem cells in the span of two days. There are two ways of donation the Peripheral blood stem cell donation is non-surgical, this process of collection of stem cells take a six year period via peripheral blood. The other is surgical process which takes about 1-2 hours and it is performed under anesthesia where marrow cells are collected with a syringe from pelvic bone.

“Stress = Death”: Can stress cause you?

“Stress = Death”: Can stress cause you?
There are many ways that chronic stress can cause you death. Cortisol which is often referred as stress hormone includes in that. Elevated Cortisol levels interact and interfere with learning, memorizing, lowering the immunity system and lessens its functioning, there are lot many more factors like decrease in bone density and increasescholesterol and level of lying on the bed of heart diseases rate increases drastically.
Chronic Stress is hazardous and causes heart related diseases which leads to early death and can also cause cancer and other health related issues in the early ages.
The most stressed out people will have a premature death with higher risk and with higher rate. According to some studies 1293 men annually have premature deaths with chronic stress.
What is Chronic Stress?
Chronic Stress is a response to emotional&psychological pressures suffered and prolonged for a large period of time in which the individual have little or no control on the situation by which he goes through.

  • Depression or general unhappiness.
  • Anxiety and agitation.
  • Moodiness, irritability, or anger.
  • Feeling overwhelmed.
  • Loneliness and isolation.
  • Other mental or emotional health problems.

The above mentioned are the symptoms of Chronic stress, to overcome stress chronic stress one should know its symptoms, and then find a remedy to overcome the stress factor.
Chronic Stress in Females
In females the death ratio is low compared to men. But chronic stress has been linked with many severe problems in female reproduction both in human and non- human animals in many studies. But contrast, to this very less researches have been focused on relationship between chronic stress and sexual functioning. Many women daily experience a hectic lives, in which they are frequently exposed to small, chronic stressors. By regular accumulation of these small stressors can potentially contribute its part related to sexual functioning.
Finally high level of chronic stress in female will relate to lower level of genetic sexual arousal and high level of chronic stress in males might lead to death.

Probiotics is this the reason of worsening Cryptosporidiosis in mice.

Being administered a probiotic, researchers have found that infection with intestinal parasite Cryptosporidium parvum is worsened in mice.
Cryptosporidiosis is one of the main cause of diarrhea in most of the developing and under developing countries on an estimate of over 48000 people were killed in 2016. Doctors and researchers have not yet found any drug that can treat the infection and any vaccine that can prevent it.

Compared to control mice, those that were given the probiotic had altered gut micro flora and more parasites in their feces, and their intestinal micro flora were different from those of the control mice.
Researchers and doctors assumed that healthy microbiome could prevent or reduce the severity of the infection, but contrary to their expectational assumptions, they came to notice that consumption of commercially available probiotic actually increased the severity of the infection.

Antibiotics, which often disturb or even use up and empty all the normal intestinal micro flora, thus can render individuals more vulnerable to infection precisely related to intestine. On the other hand, researches posited that a healthy balance of microflora can prevent or reduce severity of cryptosporidiosis in a mouse model.

“Mitigating the diseases severity might be adequate to prevent diarrhea, or lessen the duration, and empower the immunes system so to naturally control the infection”
Although the outcome of the study was quite contrary to their hypothesis, the fact that cryptosporidium growth can be affected by diet has meant Widmer and colleagues now think that it may still be possible to design probiotics that will mitigate the infection.
Widmer says that the aim now is to find a find a mechanistic link between microflora and cryptosporidium proliferation and ultimately design a simple nutritional supplement that helps the body fight the infection.
“Identifying specific mechanisms that amend pathogen virulence in response to diet may enhance the development of simple pre- or probiotics capable of modifying the composition of the microbiota to lower the severity of cryptosporidiosis.”

Autoimmunity play a part in development of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Autoimmunity is the system of immune responses of an organism against its own healthy cells and tissues whereas Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a kind of lung disease characterized by long-term breathing problems and causes airflow blockage.
COPD, which includes chronic bronchitisand emphysema. Genome-wide association studies have identified several genes that contribute to the COPD development, however scientists still lack an understanding of the pathogenesis of theCOPD. The researchers examined the link between genetic variants in COPD and clinical phenotypes, or physical characteristics such as the historyof the disease, to understand the biological mechanisms concealing COPD.
Using genetic data from patients, the researchers performed a phenome-wide association study (PheWAS) of 16 reported COPD-associated Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) that were recognized by a genome-wide association study. SNPs represent a difference in a single DNA building block called a nucleotide are the common type of genetic variation among people.People are genetically very similar, but the main difference is because of theSingle Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP).

Right now here's no treatment for COPD, Researchers are attempting to figure out to diagnose and to prevent it.So, some people with a specific SNP are more susceptible to get this disease.
SNP is also combinedwith several autoimmune diseases, likerheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes thatsuggests a genetic link between COPDand autoimmune disease.
This study could provide awareness on opportunities for drug repurposing. The findings recommend future studies should explore the role of the immune system in the COPDpathogenesis. The researchers hope that scientists will investigate how normal SNPs, such as those associated with metabolic pathways or different nutrient receptors, are related to COPD.

Haloperidol as an Adjunctive Therapy is best to Placebo for Symptoms of Gastroparesis.

Gastroparesis is chronic, delayed gastric emptying during which food residues stayswithin the stomach longer than typical; symptoms incorporates nausea and vomiting. Gastroparesis can happen as a result of motor dysfunction, nerve damage or paralysis of the stomach muscles, and is related with other systemic diseases (diabetes mellitus) and surgical complications (gastrectomy). Haloperidol is afirst effective agent in combination using standard analgesic and also antiemetic agents for the gastroparesis treatment.

It is the first randomizedstudy, double- blind trial to estimate the effectiveness of haloperidol as an adjunctive therapy for the symptoms of gastroparesis and found that compared with gastroparesis patients randomized to placebo, those who received Haloperidol had a statistically significant decrease of nausea and pain, withoutany side effects, implying that the addition of haloperidol to conventional therapy was better than conventional therapy alone.

The study proposes that future research, with larger sample sizes, is needed to evaluate the external validity of the findings.

Haloperidol as an adjunctive therapy is best to placebo for symptoms of gastroparesis.
